Supporting your skin, for a healthier you.

Healthy Skin, SkinCare, Skin Support

Here are some tips to keep in mind when you are trying to best to support your skin, specially when you see your skin not responding well to anything! not even a proper skin care regimen. Keep in mind that having the right products for YOUR skin type and condition is key BUT (there is that but!) you have to help your skin with also other lifestyle habits that we dont think or remember that also triggers our #healthyskin vibe.

Before listing your tips below, add one last sentence that sums up your paragraph or offers a smooth transition to your listicle.

Tip #1 - Quit smoking or vaping

Easier said than done, i know. Smoking reduces the amount of oxygen that reaches you skin. Ways that you can see this habit effecting your skin are.

  • visible capillaries

  • redness

  • dehydration

  • collagen breakdown

  • thin skin density

  • reduced elasticity

  • pigmentation

  • puffiness

  • dryness

  • slow healing

  • sluggish complexion

Tip #2 - Increased light exercise

Moving out body is a way for healthy everything, it really helps pumps up our lymphatic system. A system that doesn't have its natural pump. our lymph system depends on us to do the work (sad, i know) by increasing your workout activity you are helping your lymphatic system move through to many channels that makes your body work as a whole.

Personal Tip: I love following APPs workouts not that im in a busy schedule it also has some healthy food ideas that you can follow. Move with us is an amazing app that i personalized to your goals, body shape, diet restrictions and my favorite! follow the full workout if you have the time but if your cutting it short it gives you an option to switch it to a 30min express session. OWNU is another personal favorite, they have many challenges that you can choose whenever you are ready to start your journey. Definitely check them out and let me know how it went!

Tip #3 - Reduce sun exposure

Exposure to the sun and or heat causes oxidative stress within the skin. Which it imbalances free radicals and antioxidants cells. Overtime it causes the collagen and elastin fibres to breakdown leading to premature aging and sagging of the skin. Definitely reduce sun exposure if pigmentation is a concern. Limit your amount in the sun between the times of 10am to 4pm. Try to go outdoors before 10am or after 4pm. Always be mindful of the UV rays even the sun is hiding, reapply your sunscreen (depending of the SPF you have), sunglasses & hats are essential.

Tip #4 - Reduce Stress

Unfortunately, stress one of the leading factors to many kin conditions, therefore try your best to include some time to destress into your busy schedule. Taking baths, going out for a walk (wearing your spf), hanging out with friends, whatever you wish to do. Key is that you have to RELAX.

Personal Tip: My favorite way to destress is to of course binge on netflix BUT the most productive way to destress is going to Thai body work and yoga. Have to give them a try.

Tip #5 - Reduce sugar

We all try to reduce sugars on our daily lifestyle anyway. But sugar increases inflammation within the skins ability to function properly. Sugar also messes up with our gut health which is linked to the skins health. So therefore reducing refined sugar is a great way to start a healthy skin journey.

Tip #6 - Increase your essential fatty acids (EFA) intake

Our body doesn't make Essential Fatty Acids, therefore we have to make sure its added into our diet. A way to achieve that is by eating omega rich meals, such as avocados. Also dont forget your supplements, omega 3 & 6 which help support the skin for a healthy cell function.

Tip #7 - Nutritional Support

Our wholesome food isn't as nutritive anymore since our world has a lot of people to feed. But always try your best to have fresh wholesome supplementation to support your skin.

Personal Tip: I always try to be mindful on what i eat, things that has helped me be on top of my food intake daily are MyFitnessPal, a great app where you can count your macros or at least have an overview of what you are feeding yourself. The Move with us training app also has a personalized nutrition break down which i love because it also includes recipes so its not boring.

Tip #8 - Reduce alcohol intake

Alcohol causes inflammation. Cutting back on alcohol intake can highly help reduce inflammation in your body. Give it a try and document it, then let me know how it goes!

Tip #9 - Improve your bowel function

Suffering from constipation?! this can affect your skin more than you realize. Work to improve your bowel function if necessary through diet or seek assistance if needed.

Keep these tips in mind throughout your skin journey.

It helps to heal, nurture and maintain its healthy state year around. With the proper care at home, along with a personalized skin regimen and monthly professional visits when needed.
